My sister, Kristy, is currently doing her dietetics internship in Raleigh, NC. She moved in August and will be there for about a year. After she completes her internship, she will be taking the test to become an RD (registered dietician).
My sister and I are literally two peas in a pod; I often refer to her as my clone. Craig says we are identical twins—she just stayed in the womb for 6 extra years. 😉
Anyway, she wrote this guest post for me about the local farmer’s market in Raleigh! I am definitely jealous of the selection and prices!!

So, my ‘clone’ sister (a.k.a. Michelle) asked me to write a guest post for y’all (no, I normally don’t use that word but I felt it was fitting since living in NC.) and how could I ever say “no” to my FAVORITE and BEST SISTER in the world?!? No, I don’t have my own blog (yet), but I definitely enjoy mooching off The Runner’s Plate for “Michelle taste test-approved” recipes! …and of course staying up-to-date with her life in the far off “country” of Alaska.
After recently moving to Raleigh, NC, I decided to visit the state farmer’s market and oh boy, was I AMAZED! Never have I seen so many fruits and vegetables in one place before!
But not only that, people were fleeing from great distances to purchase their fresh produce.
It made me so happy to just think about all the vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants people were taking home to enjoy with their families.
Now to my dilemma: which vendor do I purchase from? That’s a good question. So I decided to make my way up and down the aisle and purchase some peaches here and zucchini there. I loved the vibrant colors of so many different types and varieties of produce. The place was just screaming with antioxidants!
This was my bountiful purchase…all for less than $10! I think I may have gone a little overboard, but I was just so excited I couldn’t contain myself! I think I will have to do a little cooking these next couple of days. But not to worry, I have many “Michelle-approved” recipes from The Runner’s Plate of course. What’s on the menu? …zucchini pizza, sweet potato fries, spaghetti with edamame and tomatoes and much more!
It felt so good to be bringing home delicious, fresh produce and supporting the local farmers in the North Carolina as well. This will definitely have to be a weekly stop!
looks like a great farmers market! i’ll be sad when ours ends. i love it!

Great post, Kristy!! I love all the pictures! It looks like an awesome “Farmer’s Market”. I bet the “Farmer’s Market” in NC will last a few months longer than the “Farmer’s Market” in MN.
