If you know me, you know I love a good organizational system. So when we moved into our new house and were starting from scratch on everything, I wanted to make sure I found all the best organization items to keep our things tidy and organized.
I got a lot of our organizational items from Amazon and most of them were reasonably-priced. I love the simplicity and uniformity these items offer. Plus, it is easier to find things, keep items together, everyone knows where to put things back (or they should 😉 ), and really just makes me so happy.
So here are 10 organizational items from Amazon I can’t live without:
- Velvet Hangers
I am all for uniformity and mismatched coat hangers drive me crazy. We used to have black plastic hangers at our house back in Alaska, but I wanted to upgrade to something a little nicer when we moved, so I bought these velvet clothes hangers. I love how they look, and I especially love the rose gold hanger that gives them a really classy look. I also like that they are grippier when clothes are hung on the hangers, which helps more delicate items (sweaters, cardigans, and dresses) from “falling” off the plastic hangers. I will say that since the velvet is grippier, it does make putting items onto the hangers a little trickier. I’ve figured out how to get them on without too much trouble but Craig gets annoyed sometimes.
- Drawer Organizers for Clothes
This was the first time I have used cloth baskets drawer totes for holding my clothing items and organizing them in the drawer. Prior to this everything was stacked on top of each other, and I could never see what I had in my drawer. This way, I can see everything I have and my clothes get worn more equally. It took for a few tries to figure out how I wanted to fold my clothes in order for them to fit nicely into the totes, but now it’s second-nature and opening my drawer makes me so happy.
The set comes with several collapsible baskets and different sizes that allow you to piece them together based upon what you want to store in each basket. I have my running long sleeves, short sleeves, and tank tops stored in this drawer, and then (some of) my running tights and shorts in the drawer below. I also have totes for socks and underwear as well.
- Plastic Drawer Organizers
These plastic drawer organizers turn a cluttered space into an organized space in an instant. This set comes with 25 containers, and I was able to organize my desk drawers, makeup drawer, night stand, and some kitchen drawers with all of them. I did purchase these sticky feet for the bottoms of the containers, so they didn’t move around every time I opened and closed the drawer. There are four size of containers, and they can be configured in a variety of ways.
If you start with an organizational tool in your home, make it this one because it is so easy and makes a drawer so much more aesthetically pleasing. Plus it is so much easier to find items and easy to toss the item back in the right spot versus the items being all mixed together in one drawer and turning into a junk drawer.
- OXO Food Storage Containers
I used the largest amount of organizational containers, trays, and baskets in the kitchen. Between the drawers, cupboards, fridge, and pantry, there’s a lot to be organized.
In our pantry, I purchased these OXO brand canisters to store our panty essentials. Initially I was going to find a knock-off brand, but as I read the reviews of other ones, I knew I wasn’t going to be happy with them. Some of the cheaper ones said the plastic wasn’t clear, the lids didn’t fit as well or weren’t air-tight, and I have had other OXO brand items in the past and have been very happy with them, so I splurged on these.
I used these minimalist labels to stick onto each container and picked our favorite and most popular items that we buy in bulk. I love how easy it is to find what you need, and I always know when I’m running low on something.
- OXO Baking Storage Containers
I also purchased the baking line of these OXO containers. I was just going to use other OXO brand containers, but a few key things sold me on this particular set: the flour and sugar container have scoops that attach to the cover so you don’t have to dig out a separate spoon or scoop; the brown sugar container has a clay piece that attaches to the top of the cover (you can see it in the picture) to keep the sugar moist; almost all the sizes of the containers are designed to fit your standard 5 pounds of flour, 3 pounds of white sugar, and baking soda and baking powder. Once again, I used these labels to attach to each container, and I’m so happy with how they turned out.
- Glass Food Storage Containers
I did save a little bit of money by purchasing these glass containers instead of more OXO containers. They are very pretty, the glass is clear, and I love the wood covers. As far as I can tell, they seal really well, and I haven’t notice our food going stale during the summer. Once again, I used these pre-printed labels for the outside of the containers. I eye-balled the center of the jar and carefully applied them in order to minimize any bubbles in the label.
- Spice Containers
If it isn’t clear, I love uniformity, and I knew I wanted a spice drawer with all of our spices in matching containers and the similar labels to the other containers above. I absolutely love how it turned out, and I loved that the set came with everything you need: the jars, lids, covers, labels, and a funnel. I also used this plastic tray for storing them in the drawer so they displayed nicely in the drawer.
- Lid Organizer
You know how annoying it is to store lids to plastic containers and glass containers? I know you do–we all do, so if you don’t have this lid organizer, buy it now! I cannot stress how much this helps to keep lids easy to find and avoid them falling all over your drawer or cupboard.
- Water Bottle Holder
Water bottles have to be one of the hardest things to store, but this water bottle holder is a game-changer. It makes it so much easier to grab the water bottle you want, and it minimizes the wasted space above them all.
- Fridge Baskets
It’s crazy how much simply adding a basket pulls everything together and makes an area look so much more organized. These plastic baskets for the fridge worked perfect because they were more on the shallow side, so not too tall, and the handle is nice because you can easily pull the entire basket out to take out multiple items at a time. I will group like items together, so the guacamole, salsa, and chip dips are all together so I can pull them all out at the same time.
So there you have it, 10 organizational items from Amazon that have made my life feel less cluttered, more organized, and ultimately makes me so happy. (It’s the little things.)
