I’m a little late in getting this schedule out for the year seeing it is already half way over, but it took me a while to figure out what I was excited about and what I wanted to pursue.
I finally did nail down my racing schedule with the help of my coach (Nichole) who I have hired back because I was lacking motivation and tired of planning my own runs/workouts. I’ve decided to forego a marathon this fall because frankly I was excited about anything, so instead I’ve decided to work on my speed this summer and fall. I think I’ll run a spring marathon–Boston? Eugene? Honestly, I’m not entirely sure yet.
My 2023 Racing Schedule
July 4th – Freedom Run 5 Miler
July 16 – Raspberry Run 1 Miler
July 26 – Tracksmith 5000
August 20 – Skinny Raven Half Marathon
September 10 – City of Lakes Half Marathon
October 1 – Twin Cities 10 Miler
October 21 – Mankato 10K
I’m not sure I’ll be racing much into November and December because it will start to get cold after that, but maybe I’ll hop into a race or two for fun.
I’m still trying to figure out a whole new racing scene in Minnesota now. In Alaska, I knew which races were the more competitive ones versus those that were small and intimate, and depending upon what I wanted, I knew what each race would bring. But now the racing options are pretty expansive here, and I also have to factor in driving distance and other family activities going on on the weekends. So all-in-all, it is going to take me a little while to figure out what races I will do each year–if I’ll stick to the same ones or bounce around.
At the end of the day, I’m just happy to be running healthy and enjoying the process. It also really helps that it is summer now too, which is my favorite!!
