4 Running Jackets for Your Spring Workouts

my favorite jackets

I don’t know about you, but the consensus seems to be that spring needs to hurry up and get here, so we can enjoy some warmer weather. Here in Alaska, we are going on 5 months of winter, so I am very over it and ready for some warmer weather! (I say this as there is currently 4 feet of snow in my front yard. . . sigh, oh Alaska.)

Anyway, if there are signs of spring where you live–or it is much warmer where you live, check out these jacket recommendations for spring days. I’ve got something for you whether the day is sunny, windy, rainy, cool, or even on the chillier side. One of these jackets packs on itself that allows you to carry it in its own pouch on your arm! I also feature a jacket without a hood (because honestly who wears a hood while running anyway) and a warmer jacket for those of us who live in cooler climates.

lululemon Fast and Free Windbreaker
Sleek, windproof, and water resistant–this Fast and Free Windbreaker does it all. If you live somewhere where your spring can be wet and/or windy, check out this jacket. I absolutely love the slim fit that hugs your body, and the material is designed to move with you while running with its four-way stretch. If you’re not a fan of hoods on your jacket, check this hood-less jacket out because I’m not sure about you, but I never wear a hood when I run.

Oiselle Vim Jacket
I’ve had the Oiselle Vim Jacket for many years, and it still looks brand new. I love the extra reflective detailing on this jacket, the drawstring at the bottom so cold air doesn’t blow up the jacket, and best of all, it packs in on its own pocket! You stuff it into the pocket that then zips shut, so you can carry the packed jacket on your arm with its built-in carrying strap. If that isn’t amazing, I don’t know what is.

Nike Essenital Running Jacket
The Nike Essential Running Jacket is water repellent, has a hood, and is not too fitted nor too loose-fitting. I’ve gotten so much use out of this jacket, and it has held up during rainy runs as well as windy runs. I’ve had my jacket for a couple of years, so the updated version of this jacket is slightly different than the one I’m wearing, but I think they are equally amazing.

lululemon Cross Chill Jacket
This Cross Chill Jacket is one I get asked about the most, and it has honestly been worth every penny! Not only it is super cute, practical, and has thumbholes–it is also waterproof which is really hard to come by in a jacket! I wear it when the temps are in the 20s (F), and it performs so well.

I can feel spring getting closer each week as the daylight is coming back and we’ve had period of the snow and ice melting, so it is only a matter of time before we are bringing out the lighter jackets, capris, and a lot less layers soon!

Hi, I'm Michelle

I love running around the lakes of Minnesota, running after my two boys, and racing anything from the 5K to the marathon. I have been blogging here since 2010 when I ran my first marathon. I finally secured my sub-3 hour marathon after trying for 8 years.
