I got to celebrate my 38th birthday yesterday with these crazy, fun guys. It turned out to be a good day with an easy run; small, Covid-friendly party; and time with my boys.
The morning started out with a nice easy 7 mile run. (Thanks coach for an easy running day although I paid for it this morning after my 15-miler on the treadmill. #dead) It was a real feel of -2*F, which is never pleasant. I felt okay, but I am totally over winter running right now.
I then had a pretty normal day of watching both boys, but I tried to clear my schedule with minimal work, so I could “relax” a little more than usual.
In the afternoon, we went to a friend’s house for a small birthday party, had cake, and the kids played together which was nice.
I mean come on. . . . why are babies so cute in everything.
Craig made dinner for me and even cleaned the kitchen. (Actually he cleans the kitchen almost every night while I give the boys a bath.) I then did a little work and went to bed early.
Gah! 40 is creeping up too close, you guys!
I remember how scared I was to turn 30 and now I would give anything to be in my early 30s again. Ha! I guess this is how I will feel as 50 approaches too, huh?! Anyway, I digress, 38 is here, and I’m bound to make it a good one–I love where I’m at in life, honestly. Running is going really well. I have two boys who are so much fun to be around. Craig and I have a good balance with work/life/play, and I have a lot to be thankful for a look forward to.
It’s crazy to think back on this day a year ago–right before Covid hit. Last year for my birthday, I had a friend watch Bjorn while I went for a run. Then I hung out at her house for a couple hours just talking and chatting (Oh, the good old days!). That evening we went and toured Cullen’s school. This is the blog post I wrote for my birthday last year, highlighting 37 ways my running has changed for me over the years.
