These ‘favorite things’ compilation posts are some of my favorite to write and share with you. I guess it feels like sharing new finds with a good friend! This time around, I am featuring a couple of Brooks running items, a favorite pair of jeans, and a clean deodorant that I have been very impressed with so far.
Valentine’s Day Sweatshirt
If you need a cute, fun, reasonably-priced sweatshirt for Valentine’s Day, go and snag this one. I picked this up at Target for $20 a couple weeks ago and have already worn it multiple times. I did size up to a medium for a slightly less-fitted look, but grab yours soon because sizes are starting to sell out!
Brooks Hyperion Tempo
I love these running shoes for my treadmill workouts. I got them this past summer and use them any chance I get for speed, interval, and tempo workouts. They fit like a glove on my feet, and I love how lightweight they are. Yet at the same time, they have a decent amount of cushioning for longer days and most likely be what I use for the marathon. I did a full review of them in this bog post.
Brooks Further Tank
I love a good cropped tank for running and weight lifting. The Further Tank from Brooks is cute and practical. Plus it has a fun retro print, and for some reason I’m a sucker for perforation, which is has all over it. I got mine at Skinny Raven as well as these Method 7/8 Tights, but they are also available on the Brooks website.
Beautycounter Deodorant
I have tried a few other natural deodorants (Native, Schmidt’s, and Primally Pure), and I haven’t loved any of them, but so far I am loving Beautycounter’s Clean Deo. I purposely did pick this week that is during the winter, and I’m off from running, so I’m not sweating as much. Even so, I have been very impressed with it so far. What makes this item even better and more green is that the container is refillable!
Good to Go
I love reading books, but I often choose to do other things in the evening (work + picking up the house) instead of reading, so not much reading actually happens. However, I did read Good to Go, and it was so, so, so good! Basically if you thought any form of recovery helped with your running, you may be wrong. Ha! It defies quite a few forms of recovery we use as runners, but I still loved the read and learning why exactly some of these things don’t work.
Abercrombie Skinny Jeans
Abercrombie has been killing it in the jean department lately. I now own several pairs of their jeans and love how comfortable they are. This Mid Rise Super Skinny Ankle Jeans in particular has the perfect amount of stretch, a comfortable mid-rise, fit well, and I love the raw hem at the bottom. I wear these at least once a week, and I love how comfy they are.
G2G Protein Bars
I have tried too many protein bars to count, and these G2G Bars are BY FAR are the best ones! The ingredient list is awesome, they taste amazing, and they actually fill me up! I get them at Costco in the refrigerated section, but I need to order through the website to try more flavors.
Red Aspen Nails
The last time I used press-on nails was in college, but I was influenced to try these from Red Aspen, and so far I really like them. The learning curve was fairly steep at first, but I do like how they look. I did trim them down even more to avoid catching them on things and potentially ripping them off. So far I’ve only lost one, but I just glued it back on again, and it was as good as new.
It is a cloudy, gray day, but I’m thankful for the blanket on my lap and a hot cup of tea to keep me warm. After I hit publish on this blog post, I need to work on updating athlete plans for next week and prepping another blog post. (I am trying to get ahead on work this week while I’m off running.) Then it will be time to pick Cullen up from school as his day is over at 1:15p.m., which is kind of early, but I’m glad he can be in in-person school now. I think he enjoys going, and I love that he actually goes to bed before 9p.m. now. Ha!
