What a year it was!
The year I never stepped on a plane (usually I will take at least a couple of trips each year), left the city of Anchorage only a handful of times, went to a restaurant 3 times (twice before Covid, one time outdoor this summer). And the year I ran two races, one virtual race, and tried trail running for the first time.
I am hopeful that 2021 will bring more time with friends and family, less social distancing, health for more people, and races for us runners.
Despite the challenges this year brought for all of us, I still have a lot to be thankful for. We enjoyed more family time than we ever have, my postpartum running the second time around is going really well, and my coaching business is flourishing.
Craig’s highlight of the year was his annual caribou trip, but the low-lights were getting shingles right after having surgery for carpal tunnel.
Cullen finished out his second year of preschool and then started virtual kindergarten this fall. His school could go back in January, but we’ll see if that actually happens. (He goes to a charter school, but his school doesn’t have to do what the Anchorage School District does.)
Bjorn has become a fairly-content baby after his colic days as a newborn. He loves his brother and Dad is best at getting him to go to sleep. He can walk now, and you can tell he is starting to understand some things we say.
I will count my blessings from this past year, but there are a lot of things I also won’t miss either. I hopeful the vaccine will allow us to travel more so I can go and see my family in Minnesota, and I really hope I can run a marathon so all my hard work is worth something.
Finally, I am thankful for all you who have followed me over the years and for those of you who recently started following me. I’ve enjoyed sharing my life and running journey on this platform, and I would love to finally secure that sub-3 hour marathon once and for all! Maybe 2021 will be my year!
