It has been a good week for me. Work has been busy—the good busy that makes the days go by fast. And we have been having a lot of sunshine during the day, which makes me forget how cold it is—usually 15* in the morning and low 30s during the day. This is below normal for us, but I am just glad we still don’t have any snow.
Monday
I am still out of commission for running, but I have been lifting weights almost every day and riding the stationary bike to get my endorphin rush.
I love starting out the day on the right note with a workout that leaves me feeling strong and fit the rest of the day. Plus, it helps me focus at work. The week following the marathon when I was way too sore to run, I had a really hard time focusing and thinking clearly at work. It was an odd feeling—something I don’t remember experiencing before—but I truly believe it was because I wasn’t exercising in the mornings.
Tuesday
At my job, I get to talk to people all over the United States (on the phone), and on Tuesday I talked to someone from my beloved home state of Minnesota, which reminded me of this You Tube video Craig found. You MUST watch it if you live in Minnesota or have any sort of connection to the state. It is fun!
Gangnam Style Parody (Minnesota Style)
Wednesday
We had a new employee start this week, and I’ve had the opportunity to train her! I can’t believe my supervisor thought I knew enough to train someone after only being there for two months myself! I was happy to train her; I enjoy teaching people—just not 30 kids in a gym all day. 😉
I also tried these powered drink mixes sent to me by the company. These Re:Vive energy fizz supplements have a variety of vitamins and minerals along with natural sources of caffeine: taurine and guarana seed extract, which adds 150mg of caffeine per packet. I try very hard to limit my caffeine intake to those times right before running a race, so I wasn’t thrilled about the caffeine in them. They also have stevia in, which I don’t care for. Overall, I wasn’t a fan of the flavor—or the product itself.
Thursday
It has been quite a while since Craig and I have done a coffee date, so it was time to remedy that this week.
I brought my own breakfast and then purchased a decaf pumpkin spice latte. (My first one of the season!) Usually I will bring overnight oats with me, but we didn’t have any yogurt, so I made some oatmeal on the stove the night before and then just ate this cold. I have done this before and it turned out to be pretty good, but this oatmeal was awful. I couldn’t even finish it because it was so bad, and that’s saying a lot.
Craig said, “Take a picture of me stabbing you with this (plastic) knife.” I don’t know where he gets this stuff. He always keeps life interesting, that’s for sure!
I also tried running Thursday after work. Unfortunately I only made it 0.5 miles before my glute started hurting again, so I stopped after one mile. Bummer.
Friday
I have fallen in love with dry shampoo. When I first started using dry shampoo, I wasn’t a fan. It was chalky and turned my hair white. But after experimenting with it more, I’m a fan. I’ve been washing my hair every other day (or every fourth day as I did last week!), which is something new for me. I used to hate the feeling of unwashed hair because my roots were always so greasy, but the dry shampoo really helps combat that.
Well, that’s a recap on my week, and I am now going to enjoy the rest of my evening doing very exciting things like washing dishes and cleaning the bathroom. Such the exciting life I lead! Ha!
i love dry shampoo! is the tresamme brand good? i’ve only used suave before…
I’ve only used the Tresamme brand, so I’m not sure I’d be a good judge. I don’t have any complaints, and it smells good.
What a fun weekly recap!
Thanks!
It is good to hear you say that you had a “good week”, rather than being stressed out every week. I am glad you and Craig are sitting down together talking at least for one meal sometimes. Love you!!
