(I need to take pictures before I go running, so my face isn’t so sweaty and red! Although, maybe then you wouldn’t believe me I actually went for a run!?!?)
It’s been a couple of days, so time to catch up up on my training runs.
Wednesday’s Run
Distance: 8 miles
Time: 62 minutes
Workout: 3 mile tempo run
I did an out-and-back route and ran the first 4 miles at my normal pace of about 8-minute miles. When I got to the 4 mile mark, I stopped and rested for a couple minutes before taking off for my 3 mile tempo run. I used the last mile as a cool-down.
I was hoping to be able to do the tempo run at about 6:50 minutes/mile (or at least under 7:00), but I, for the life of me, could not get my pace to drop under 7 minute miles. I swear it was my watch. ๐ Yes, I want to blame the GPS, but I don’t know for sure if it was the watch or not. I was running on a wooded/shaded path, so the watch might have not been able to pick up a good signal?? (Can anyone support or deny this?) Or am I just trying to make excuses?? It really, honestly felt like I was running faster than 7 minute miles!
Today was the first day I wore a short-sleeve shirt on a morning run this summer!! I honestly probably could have worn a short-sleeve shirt on a couple of other days, but at the same time I don’t get too hot in a thin long sleeve shirt.
Today’s Run
Distance: 8 miles
Time: 64 minutes
Average pace: 8 minutes/mile
This morning’s run was a very nice run: great weather, I felt good, and no pain/injuries to complain about. Most of my miles were around 7:50 minutes/mile, but the first mile (8:30 minutes) killed my overall pace. (It always does.)

Yesterday for lunch, Craig and I took a break from brown baggin’ it and used a Groupon to Kinley’s.
Neither of us had been to Kinley’s. We had heard good things about it though, and we, too, walked away with a very positive experience. ๐
I ordered the Summer Vegetable Salad that had a corn vinaigrette dressing. It was good—nothing special, but I was craving a salad, so it did the trick.
Craig ordered the Halibut BLT, which was very delicious but way too heavy for me. I had a couple of bites. I’m so glad he is willing to share. ๐
We sat and talked for the remainder of Craig’s lunch break. It is nice to change things up and eat somewhere else besides Craig’s office at work.

I am a cheap-skate and have a hard time buying something unless it is on sale. I also have a hard time buying really expensive things, but here are things I have been lusting after lately.
Frye ‘Melissa Trapunto’ Boots
$239.90 (originally $357.95 @ Nordstrom)–> WAY out of my budget, but I’ll still dream.
Love tall, brown riding boots.
Smashbox O-Gloss
$22
Designed to match your own skin and give you customized shade for your lips. How cool is that?
Ray-Ban Aviators
$195
Sam Edelman ‘Gigi’ Sandal
$64.95
I have to admit, some of these items come from Emily, who was just on The Bachelorette, and if you are as obsessed with her style as I am, check out this blog: Possessionista
My Garmin has a hard time in areas with lots of trees–you were probably cruising at about 6:45/mile on that tempo run.
I sure hope so. Which Garmin model do you have?
My Garmin hates trees and wind. I’ve got a 205. If you’re into the extra work, you could map it out (USATF’s website has a good map feature) and calculate your pace over your splits and overall time.
Man, I wish I could come run with you. Company during the daytime would be so fun!
That’s a good idea.
Do you get bored during the day?
Those boots are fantastic! WANT!
I know, right?
Girl, you have been killing it on the runs lately. So inspiring. Keep up the fantastic work!
Thank you!
I have the lunch Groupon to Kinleys as well! I think it expires soon! I better get on that!
I think you have until September?? (Don’t quote me on that though.) But I think I remember it being in the fall.
