I have to admit, I had a “fat day” yesterday. I didn’t exercise (since it was a rest day for me), never changed out of my pajamas, ate a ton of food, and felt like a slob. Thankfully, I don’t have these days too often. But still, they are not fun. The one good thing about a day like that, it makes me appreciate being able to go for a run and spend some time taking care of myself!
Today’s run:
Distance: 10 miles
Time: 1:20
Average pace: 8:00 minutes/mile
I was excited to go for a long run today. Even though I only took one day off, it felt like a week off! My legs felt very refreshed and the miles clicked along easily.
Even though I ran 10 miles in the morning, I was not hungry throughout the day. (Which means I ate way too much yesterday!) So I made sure to lift weights this afternoon in order to get my metabolism going. I find it crazy that 10 miles didn’t work up an appetite for me, but 20 minutes of weight lifting did!

Now onto the food part. . . .
I found another ingredient that makes spinach smoothies (a.k.a. Green Monsters) very delicious: canned pineapple! Yum, this tasted very tropical with the pineapple and banana in it. I’m going to have to do that again very soon.
Tonight for dinner, I made Chana Masala (i.e. chickpea curry). I’ve tried this recipe before (which is very good!) but decided to try a different variation. The recipe I used tonight can be found here, and it was a winner as well! Without the two being side-by-side, I’m not sure which recipe I prefer.
i LOVE canned pineapple in smoothies! one day i will have a freezer big enough to store all sorts of frozen fruit but for now i can deal with some canned. 🙂
I don’t mind canned either for the most part.
I’m a dork for chickpeas. I can eat a whole can. And I love that you didn’t dwell too much on the off-day. we all have days (or weeks… cough cough) like that. 😉
I have become obsessed with your ‘green monsters’! I drink them every day and have started adding 1 tbls instant coffee and 1.5 tbls flax seed which makes it the perfect energy booster plus it keeps me full for hours on end. I can’t wait to try it tomorrow with pineapple added. Thanks for the great advice! Keep on keepin on, you are quite the inspiration and I very much enjoy reading your blog!!
Aren’t they great?! I had to add some instant coffee to mine this morning after reading your comment. I like the pineapple, but I like the instant coffee more!
I love chana masala. and when we make it at home i love putting a dollop of plain greek yogurt, it adds great flavor and texture! just a thought.
Oh yeah, I think I’ve done that before.
