Tomorrow’s the big day!
By the time most of you read this, I will be running my second marathon—Mayor’s Marathon here in Anchorage!!
I’m nervous.
I’m excited.
I’m so glad my husband will be able to watch me this time.
I’m anxious.
I’m hoping for a PR and a Boston Qualifying time. (Read my other goals here.)
I’m counting my blessings that I am actually able to do this!
I’m going to do my best to savor every moment! 🙂
. . . . . . .
The weather looks like it should be nice!
There is conflicting information as far as what the high is going to be tomorrow though.
63* vs. 71* Hmmm. . .
I’m not so concerned about the high. I’m just a little worried it is going to be chilly at the start.

Breakfast
Quick, simple, and satisfying!
Good food doesn’t have to be complicated.
flavored yogurt + banana slices + Lemon Pistachio Muffin + sunflower butter
The yogurt I used was by Cascade Fresh. I really like this brand because of the low amount of sugar. This one had 16 grams of sugar—that’s compared to 20-30 grams in many other brands.
The flavors are great and the lack of sugar cannot be detected.
I used Sunbutter Sunflower Seed Spread on top of my yogurt bowl today.
This is a new brand to me, but I don’t think I’m digging this one as much as the MaraNatha brand. There is added sugar in this kind that I can taste. The MaraNatha tasted much more authentic!
This afternoon I was a good wife and went grocery shopping because we were scraping bottom in our fridge and cupboards. Craig said I couldn’t be a stay-at-home wife anymore if I didn’t get us some more food. You bet your bottom dollar I wasn’t going to let that happen!!
I also washed dishes, ironed Craig’s dress shirt, did a load of laundry, and cleaned the bathroom. Hopefully I scored enough points to keep my title as “best stay-at-home wife ever”—at least in Craig’s eyes. 😉
. . . . . . .
Dinner
I don’t have a standard pre-race meal.
I have been debating what I wanted to eat the night prior to my race for quite some time now.
Pasta? Eh, not really. Lasagna? No. A new recipe. Too risky. Pizza? Sure, why not?!?!
So pizza it was.
homemade pizza dough + pizza sauce + spinach + fresh basil + tomato + fresh mozzarella
I’m hoping it provides me with enough fuel for tomorrow!!
I’m going to take a short walk with Craig and then spend the rest of the evening on the couch!
. . . . . . .
Question
Is anyone else racing tomorrow?
I know Grandma’s (the marathon I ran last year) is also tomorrow and several of my friends are running!! Good luck to all of them!!
Good luck on the race! That pizza looks like the bomb.com. I want to recreate it right now, but my belly is full. 🙂 Speedy wishes your way!
Good luck, Michelle! I’ll be rooting for you from KS :D.

Good luck tomorrow!!! I chose not to run this year, but I hope you have a great race and meet all your goals while avoiding any large wildlife 🙂
I’m racing! But overseas in England in the Women’s Henley Regatta (a rowing race). Much shorter than a marathon–only about a mile!
I know a lot of people who have pizza before a race and they say it is the bomb.com and they always do better. Good luck girl! You are going to rock it!
I made home-made pizza last night as well and this morning I am going for my first ever long run. NOT A RACE, but a long run in preparation for my first 10k July 4th. I posted my recipe on my latest blog post.
I ran 5 full miles, never stopped and all 5 miles were ran under 11 minutes with a total of 52:15. I am stoked!!
Good Luck on your race!! 🙂 Can’t wait to read the recap!
I totally agree with you about the maranatha brand sunflower butter! It’s the best! I bought the trader joe’s brand when my maranatha jar ran out and I really regret it. :/ It’s just too too sweet! I like the saltiness of maranatha. Plus I think the sugar kind of masks the seedy taste in TJ’s brand.
That’s good to know that Trader Joe’s isn’t as good either.
Wooo! I can’t wait to hear how you did.

Goodluck goodluck goodluck! Have a great time out there! Looking forward to the race recap!
