Yesterday Craig and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary! ๐ Technically our anniversary isn’t until Tuesday, but the weekend gave us more time to celebrate.
After my long run, we came back home, had something to eat, and I took an ice bath while Craig chilled on the couch and watched rugby.
Our first stop was a surprise for me! Craig told me we were first going to make a stop for me to pick out my anniversary gift.
Craig had me play 20 questions, but I actually knew what it was before we even started: diamond earrings. We had looked at diamond earrings a while back, and I had a pretty good inkling that’s what I would be getting. ๐
Next we went to get pedicures! I was quite embarrassed to reveal my runner’s feet to the gal giving me my pedicure, but she did a great job cleaning them up.
This is the color I picked—colorful, vibrant, and summery!
I love seeing the names they come up with for each of the colors—Cajun Shrimp. Craig thoroughly enjoying his pedicure.
Before heading home, we made a quick stop at Acai Alaska for the grand opening of their second store in Anchorage.
Craig and I ended up splitting a bowl filled with the Nutty Heaven Blend topped with mango, macadamia nuts, and chocolate shavings.
While we were hopeful it would be worth our money, we were pretty disappointed with the total price. We thought it was going to be cheaper than what we actually paid because the add-ins really increased the price. Plus, we didn’t feel it was anything we couldn’t make at home. Oh well.
Next it was time to hit the showers and get guzzied up for our evening out.
3 years!
We enjoyed a nice dinner at the Glacier Brewhouse in downtown Anchorage.
My entree:
Blackened Chicken and Wasabi Spinach Salad
Blackened spiced chicken breast, alder grilled with spinach, cilantro, grapefruit, orange, jicama, toasted almonds, and wasabi ginger vinaigretteย ย ย
I used to feel guilty about ordering a salad when I eat out because it seems like I should be able to recreate this at home, but my salads at home never turn out that great, so now I use any opportunity to have a good, quality salad at a nice restaurant.
Loved this salad!
Craig’s entree:
Flat Iron Steak
Alder-wood grilled, BrewHouse root beer birch syrup demi- glace, crispy buttermilk onions, blistered asparagus and blue cheese garlic mashed potatoes.
The steak was average, but the potatoes were SO good! I think my palate especially loved the saltiness of the creamy garlic mashed potatoes.
And for dessert:
Brownie Sundae
Housemade Ghirardelli chocolate chunk brownie, vanilla ice cream, fresh whipped cream and chocolate sauce. Finished with raspberry and GBH barleywine sauce.
It was good, but it could have used more ice cream and there wasn’t really anything special about the brownies. I’m pretty sure they just came from a packaged box mix.
We had a very enjoyable time celebrating our 3rd anniversary! ๐

Yep, 3 years! In many ways we still feel like newlyweds. I think that’s a good thing. ๐
