I can tell I have been running more because my body has been needing close to 9 hours of sleep these days.
I am so glad I have the extra time to sleep until 7 a.m. and don’t have to wake up at the crack of dawn (5 a.m.) to get my mileage in. Not waking up to an alarm is one of those little things in life that makes me smile. 🙂
Sometimes I eat breakfast before going out for my run—especially when I know I’ll be running longer than an hour. Other times I am out the door before my stomach can start to grumble. It is nice having the option these days, so today I decided to eat breakfast and then get some things checked off my to-do list while my food digested.
Distance: 5 miles
Time: 43:00
Ha ha! Like the goose bumps on my arm? Told you I am always cold.
Overall, the run went well. I took it easy because tomorrow is my long run. (I am shooting for 20-22 miles tomorrow.) I feel very lucky that I have not had any pain or injuries to deal with. I credit that to slowly increasing my mileage, using shoes with less than 500 miles on, and taking good care of my body (stretching, yoga, sleeping, proper fueling, etc.).

Look what arrived in the mail for me yesterday!
A while back, Liz (Liz Runs DC) had a give-a-way, and I actually won! It’s the first give-a-way I won on a blog!
I won the book Running on Empty. I am really excited to read this book—especially now that I have extra time. She also sent me a postcard from Washington D.C.
And finally, Liz was kind enough to make us blondie brownies! They might have gotten a little squished in the mail, but they still taste good!
Tomorrow I will be sharing a recipe for these muffins:
featuring this:
Who knows what this is? I know some of you do!!
Rhubarb is fabulous! 🙂
Yes, it is!
I’m so glad you won! That’s cool.
Yay that is wicked cool that you won. Congrats! I have heard nothing but great things about the book.
I am seriously always cold too. It doesn’t help that my family keeps the house at like 50 degrees bahaha.
excited for your rhubarb recipe…i have some in the fridge that i need to use!
I love the idea of a giveaway where the blogger includes a homemade treat. Too fun! Congrats on your win. And looking so forward to the muffin recipe….
I hope you have a great long run! Looking forward to the muffin recipe – there is rhubarb growing in my yard and I have no idea what to do with it!
You are going to love Running on Empty. I’m reading it right now and it’s really good.
