I’ve been wanting to take a yoga class forever, and tonight was finally the night I crossed it off my bucket list!
I went to my first ever hot yoga class tonight at Anchorage Yoga. And, yes, it was HOT, and I liked it–make that I loved it!!
After living in Alaska for three years, I am always, always cold. Even in the middle of summer, it rarely gets over 70 degrees, and to me, that isn’t warm enough to hardly wear shorts and a short-sleeve shirt, so I pretty much wear my winter clothes year-round. So tonight’s class in a 100+ degree room was ah-mazing!! I’m hooked and will definitely be returning! 😀
Since I rarely have time to bake during the week, I find myself taking a large chunk of my weekend to bake 3-4 different things.
Here’s what I made this weekend:
Homemade Granola
I often do not make the same recipe twice unless it is really, really good! I’ve made this recipe three times since first making it in September, so that is saying something! Just sayin’!
This recipe is so quick and easy–and incredibly delicious! (Check out the recipe here!)
Cranberry Protein Scones
While these were in the shape of a scone, they tasted more like a granola bar. They were very dense!
And to be quite honest, I am not even going to post a recipe because they were not that great.
Honey Wheat Bread
I’ve been searching for a good homemade bread recipe for a while, and I have finally found one!
I immediately searched Kath‘s blog for a recipe because her husband is a baker. What a treat this was! I don’t think I’ll ever have to buy bread again from the store!
I followed the recipe exactly; I don’t feel comfortable enough changing up a yeast-based recipe yet.
It had a great texture and amazing flavor! I wanted to eat the whole loaf the minute it came out of the oven!Steel-Cut Oatmeal
Finally, I cooked up a batch of steel-cut oatmeal for the week for quick and easy breakfasts!
Your granola looks amazing! I’ll have to add that to my to-do list. The bread looks great too… which reminds me, it’s probably about time to pull out the bread maker…
Your bread looks amazing. I am scared to begin to bake my own bread yet.
I think I’m completely opposite from you. Once I find a recipe I like-I make it so much I get tired of it and move onto the next recipe ha.
I know making bread–and things will yeast–scares a lot of people. I guess I just grew up with my mom making homemade bread all the time that it has never intimidated me. Just make sure to following the recipe very closely and you’ll be fine. Even if it is a flop, it isn’t like flour and yeast is that expensive.
i’m with you on the recipe thing! there are so many recipes that if it’s not PERFECT, then i gotta keep trying 🙂
also, i’m opposite from you on the bread. i love homemade bread, esp. in my breadmaker cause it’s easy, but still buy store bread because it’s easier. 🙂
Yeah, I often still buy bread from the store–and probably will. But I’m going to try and make a loaf every weekend, but we’ll see how long that lasts!
Ohhh I’m so excited for you! I’ve been dying to try hot yoga. I even bought a yoga mat last week in anticipation of getting to a class. Glad to hear you’re a fan. Any advice or tips?
I saw that you bought a mat last week! You’ll have to let me know how your mat works out because I’m just borrowing my husband’s right now.
you can borrow it any time. also i think we should turn the temp in the house up to 100F tomorrow when its 17F outside.
Sounds like a good plan! It was 5* when I arrived at work this morning!
that cause your on base and east side
Wow – that bread looks awesome! Like from the store.
Thanks!
