As I took off for my early morning (5 a.m.) run this morning in shorts and a long-sleeve shirt, something felt off. I thought about it for a while and then realized what it was–it was dark, but I was in shorts!! Now, for most of you this isn’t anything out of the norm, but for those of us who live in Alaska, this is an odd feeling. Usually in the summer, when I can wear shorts on a run, it is light all the time!! Seeing as there is 20 hours of daylight at the peak of summer, it isn’t often that it is dark here, which means wearing summer clothes when it is dark is an odd feeling. Get it? Got it? Good!
My legs felt amazingly good when I started out on my 8 mile jaunt. I felt good and easily zoned out for most of it. (However, at the beginning when it was still pretty dark, I was super paranoid about moose lurking in the shadows!) I finished up in 64 minutes and then spent some time stretching.
For breakfast I enjoyed a bowl of Quaker Oat Squares with milk and half of a banana sliced up. So good!
I finished off the banana with some almond butter.
I’ve been quite overwhelmed today with everything going on at school. I am hearing about changes the principal made, students, staff changes, and other issues at the school which makes me more stressed out than I already was. I am doing my best to hang tough and not let it get the best of me.
I dug into my trail mix for a mid-morning snack. There really wasn’t much to it, so I ended up eating the mango as well.
Fresh mangos would be on my list of favorite fruits.
I got started with my lunch early and thoroughly enjoyed my salad with goat cheese and cashew pieces, which is pretty much a repeat of yesterday.
This time I switched out the dried cherries for sliced turkey meat to add some protein.
As always, I’ve got things to do, so back to work it is.
