Pin Obsessed

I guess I spoke too soon about the chilly weather yesterday. . . . It was 25* this morning (instead of 30* yesterday)!

Once again, I ran with a fellow teacher this morning at 5:30 a.m. She is really bubbly and outgoing, so she keeps me entertained. It’s fun. :)

We talked about school (of course), running (of course), and the fact we are both not ready for winter!!

We covered 6 miles in 51:30. My GPS was charged and ready to go this time. :)

When I first heard about Pinterest, I was really confused. I didn’t understand the concept and what all the hoopla was about. But, of course, since “everyone was doing it,” I thought I’d better hop on board too.

At first it seemed really pointless to me. . . . just looking through a bunch of random pictures to pin onto a virtual bulletin board?!?! That seems silly. But then I thought, well, what form of relaxation (watching TV, surfing the Internet, etc.) isn’t pointless anyway?

Within a couple of weeks of being on Pinterest, I got hooked. I can’t say I am crazyily addicted, but I do enjoy visiting the site a couple times a week to dream about the house I will never own, clothes I will never be able to afford, or the crafts I just don’t have time to make. :-?

I can dream though, right? ;) Check me out on Pinterest.

5 Things about my week:

1. What I’m pinning on Pinterest.

This outfit confirms my ‘need’ for a pair of Toms. I just wish they weren’t out of stock of this style. :(

2. What I’m watching. . .

Craig and I watched Something Borrowed last weekend, and we really enjoyed it! Best movie we’ve seen in quite some time.

Did anyone else think Dex looked like a younger version of Tom Cruise?

3. My favorite lunch all week.

I added the leftover roasted chickpeas from last night’s Chickpea Tacos, which made this salad phenomenal! On top of the leaf lettuce, I added tomato + avocado + green pepper + shredded cheese with caesar dressing. Yum!

4. A new granola bar.

My sister sent me this granola bar in the mail this week, so I had to give it a try! I love trying new things!

This was a True Bar by Bakery on Main.

I was pleasantly surprised at the authentic raspberry flavor and the texture from all the nuts and seeds of this bar. I really liked it! I’ve never seen them in the grocery stores (at least up here), but I would if I saw them.

5. I miss running in the daylight.

Living in Alaska, I spend 6-7 months running in the pitch dark. :( It can be quite scary at times, and I’m sure my blood pressure is even more elevated during these runs, but I just can’t bear to run inside! [I despise it greatly.]

I am not very good about being safe when running in the dark, so I probably shouldn’t be writing a post any time soon about “How to Safely Run When it is Dark Outside.”

Question

What was a highlight of your week?

The Friday Five, No. 2

Once again, I’m hoping on board with Meet Virgina‘s: The Friday Five.

Five things about my week.

1. Highlight of my week.

Coffee date with the husband this morning!

DSC_0010

It has been far too long since we’ve had a coffee date at Kaladi Brothers, which made this morning’s time together extra special. We discussed work, life, future kids, our weekend plans, etc. but mostly just enjoyed each other’s company.

DSC_0005

For breakfast, I had Chobani, an English muffin with peanut butter, a banana, and decaf coffee.

DSC_0006

Here’s Craig’s breakfast sandwich concoction.

DSC_0007

That would be 3 English muffin halves + peanut butter + The Laughing Cow Cheese.

2. What I’m eating.

Lots of overnight oats. I have been making overnight oats 2-3 times a week.

DSC_0002

I’ve also been eating a lot of Clif Kid Z Bars. The jury is still out on the s’mores flavor.

3. What I’m pinning.

My two favorite hairstyles. I just need to chop my hair and stop being so wishy-washy and scared about it!

4. I am missing my clone.

My sister, Kristy (a.k.a. my clone), and I have been talking on the phone almost every day after school since she moved to North Carolina. It is great because we never talked this much before!! I love it, but it makes me miss her even more! :(

5. Why I’m so stressed out.

Like I said the other day, work has been extremely stressful lately.

I can’t go into too much detail because I have no idea who reads my blog, but on top of the normal stress of working with kids all day, I am now dealing with a problem at the administrative level. :(

Lots of tears have been shed this week because I feel really hurt, sad, frustrated, and like I have been taken advantage of. I, of course, have been carrying around a lot of stress because of it but sadly running hasn’t even relieved my stress. . . that’s a bad sign!
