Well, do I have some exciting news to share with you guys today! My next marathon has been in the works for a while, and I’m finally happy to be able to share with you what it is!
But first, here are 5 things I’m looking forward to this next month.
- Minn-E-sOta!!!
Cullen and I are headed to Minnesota tonight on a red-eye, which is 95% of the time when you fly out if you want the cheapest flight out of Anchorage. We are excited to spend two weeks with family and see my baby niece, go to the Minnesota State Fair, visit the farm, and race a half marathon while I’m there.
I got a fresh manicure for the occasion, and unlike this picture, I will be going back to summer weather, which I’m stoked about!
2. When we get back mid-September, I am going to soak up every last snow-free day. I will be taking part in all the pumpkin-things, enjoy running on dry pavement, and I want to take Cullen on a couple more “hikes” before the weather gets too cold.
3. Cullen starts preschool in September, and I’m excited for him to be able to hang out with other kids because he asks daily to go over to a friend’s house. That time (7 hours a week) will allow me to get more work done during the day rather than do so much in the evening and late at night.
4. I am going to run the Oktoberfest/Run for Homelessness 10K in September, and if training continues to go well, I should be able to PR.

5. The last weekend of September, Craig, Cullen, and I are headed down to Kenai, Alaska for the Kenai River Marathon Relay. I have done this relay several times before–the last time when I was 8 months pregnant with Cullen. It will be a fun little weekend getaway since we never do anything like that (because I work every weekend). Craig and I are doing the relay along with another couple. I also have two athletes participating in events at this race.
Maybe the most exciting news is the next marathon I am going to run!
On Sunday, November 4th, I will be running the New York City Marathon!! I’m stoked!! The only other major marathon I ran was Boston in 2013, so this will be quite the experience! I have never run this marathon before, so I need all your advice for the race!
Finally, there is a giveaway you can partake in to win a bottle of Beautycounter’s Nourishing Cream Exfoliator! Go to my Facebook page Beautycounter – The Runner’s Plate and comment on the post with this picture. This is my way of saying thank you for supporting my business and helping me get promoted to Manager this past month with Beautycounter. This Nourishing Cream Exfoliator is one of my favorite cleansers, and I like to use it in the morning after running.
