The ONLY thing that helped my dry skin! – A Soothing Face Oil Review

I usually don’t have a problem with dry skin during the wintertime, but it must be drier here in Alaska than usual because my face has been notoriously dry all winter long.

I regularly use lotion in the morning after cleansing my face and then again in the evening. I have been using an Origins moisturizer, but it wasn’t providing enough hydration for my skin. I added a thicker night cream to my routine when my face started to become even more dry halfway through winter. I thought this thicker cream would help, but my face was still dry as soon as I applied my makeup in the morning. It would stay dry all day and by the evening my skin looked like the skin of a crocodile. It was pretty ugly.

I kept searching for something that would help. In addition to the two moisturizers I mentioned above, I tried FIVE other products that were designed for dry skin. NONE of them helped.

Here is what I tried:

First Aid Beauty – Ultra Repair Hydra-Firm Sleeping Cream

Josie Maran – 100% Pure Argan Oil – Light

Belif – The True Cream Aqua Bomb

Fresh – Rose Face Mask (designed to ‘hydrate and tone’)

I even put vitamin E oil straight on my face.

Nothing (NOTHING) worked. I finally asked Teri (my go-to person for my beauty questions) for some advice, and she suggested I try the Beautycounter Soothing Face Oil. She swore by it and assured me it would help.

The first night I used it, I mixed 3 drops of the oil with my moisturizer. In the morning, I could instantly tell my face was more hydrated. I used 2 drops of the oil mixed with my moisturizer the next morning because I still wanted the moisturizing effect but not quite the heaviness that 3 drops provided. It absorbed really well and made my face feel really hydrated. By the evening, I only had a small area of dry skin on my face, which was leaps and bounds better than before. I’ve continued to use it twice a day, every day, and within a week my dry skin was gone!

Here are some before and after pictures. I apologize they aren’t great pictures, but I wanted them both to be real, unfiltered, taken at the same time of the day, and in the same light (our not-so-great bathroom lighting). Hopefully you can see how dry my skin was (on the left) by the end of the day. The picture on the right was taken five days later. My skin has continued to improve as I’ve continued to use the oil.

Not only do I love this product, but I also love what Beautycounter stands for: improving the safety of products we use on our skin each day. They have promised that 1500 ingredients will not be put in their products–ingredients that are possible carcinogens and harmful to our organs. I care about what I put in my body, so why shouldn’t I care about what I put on my body since my skin is my largest organ.

I am in love and look forward to using it every day. It leaves my skin so hydrated, plus the oil smells great which is always a plus in my book. If you, too, struggle with dry skin, I cannot recommend Beautycounter oils enough. They actually revamped their facial oils line and now offer a Brightening Facial Oil, a Plumping Facial Oil, and a Balancing Facial Oil. Unfortunately they discontinued the Soothing Face Oil, but the Plumping Face Oil is the closest.
