Sorry the absence, but for the first 9 days of January, we were without the internet at home. January 1st came, and our internet service disappeared. I called a few days later after the holiday and weekend to find out the tower that was supposed to be providing our services was down. I asked how long it would be until our internet would return, and of course they couldn’t give me a very clear answer, so after waiting five more days, we cut the ties. It is all good though because we have been complaining about our internet since the day we got their services six years ago. We were too cheap to get faster internet because it worked okay for most things we needed it for. It is pretty nice being able to watch video clips without having to wait five minutes for it to load.
So let’s catch up on the highlights. . . .
Last week I was by myself for the first time as a stay-at-home mom. More or less for the past two months I have had someone else with me (Craig, my sister, or my parents) helping me with Cullen. (There were a couple weeks in there I was by myself.) Everything went smoothly, and Cullen and I have no problem filling the day with activities. (I plan to do “a day in the life” post here shortly, so you can see what a typical day looks like for us.)
Cullen the chunk
Cullen is now 11 weeks old and is smiling, cooing, and super active. He loves laying on his play mat and kicking and flailing his arms.
One day Cullen and I walked to the post office and when we returned home, there was a moose in our front yard. It was much too close to the sidewalk for us to get in through the front door, so we had to call Craig to come and rescue us. We actually ended up walking to the nearby school to stay warm since it was 13*F outside. #onlyinalaska
I have also been trying to make dinner for us each night. Prior to being a stay-at-home mom, I was never good about making dinner for us, but I have been whipping up something for dinner most nights including tonight’s Spinach Goat Cheese Turkey Burgers with roasted broccoli. Although I only had a small portion of broccoli since it can cause gas in babies, and Cullen often shoes signs of gas, so I don’t want to make it worse.
I have a lot more to share within the coming days including a running update, so keep checking back!
Yeah for making “supper” and eating together!!!
I knew that would make you happy. 🙂
