One of the big reasons I wanted to come home this summer was to have a baby shower here in Minnesota with family and friends who live in the area.
On Sunday we had a baby shower for family, and then on Tuesday I had another baby shower for friends and a few other family members.
My sister, Kristy, threw a baby shower at her place in Minneapolis. We spent the afternoon prepping for our guests: purchasing food at Costco, cleaning, and putting decorations up.
Naturally my sister decided a running theme was most appropriate. She had me bring old race bibs for decorations.
And then she bought white bibs that our guests could decorate.

Kristy also had me add up how many miles I’ve run since becoming pregnant. She counted out a jelly bean for each mile I’ve run with baby Baxter and placed them in a jar for guests to guess the total number of miles. The guesses ranged from 150-4000! Kristine won with a guess of 870, with the actual number being 830. Baby Baxter has “run” 830 miles since he/she was conceived.
Kristy also put together a healthy, no fuss meal of BBQ chicken sandwiches, veggies, a kale and brussel sprout salad, veggies, pita chips and hummus, tortilla chips and salsa, watermelon, and pound cake with strawberries and whipped topping for dessert. Everything was delicious!
We ate, talked, and hung out.
It was great to see family I hadn’t seen since our wedding! My cousin and her daughter.
Me and two of my aunts.
Then it was time to open gifts. I had kindly requested people bring gift cards or have items shipped to me because I would be flying back to Alaska, so I only received a few gifts.
I had a lot of fun visiting with friends and seeing everyone.
