I have been too busy in Minnesota to even think about posting, but it is now time to give you guys an update.
I grew up in Minnesota, and I always look forward to coming back home. Friday evening I boarded the plan to Minnesota and landed nearly 10 hours later after a layover in Seattle.
My sister, Kristy, and her boyfriend picked me up from the airport and we headed to my parent’s farm in southern Minnesota. I was very happy to be greeted with warm temps in the 80s, which is my ideal temperature.
Saturday morning we went to the small local farmer’s market in my hometown. There isn’t a whole lot, but I think that’s pretty awesome people still come every week and support the local growers. As a kid, I remember selling pumpkins out of the bed of our pick-up truck.
Next it was a stop at my favorite salon to get a haircut and brighten up my highlights.
My family and I spent the next couple of days at the lake enjoying one of the 10,000+ lakes of Minnesota.
We played croquet, which I did absolutely horrible at.
Nick (Kristy’s boyfriend), Kristy (my sister), and I went for a run in the steamy summer weather (hence the reason for my bright red face). I managed 7 miles in just under an hour, which is pretty good for me these days.
We also had a baby shower with some of my extended family and celebrated my grandpa’s 94th birthday. There’s definitely some longevity in my family!
And of course I requested a campfire in the darkness!
My sister and I then traveled to the Twin Cities for some girl time and shopping fun!
We hit up many of my favorite stores including: Trader Joe’s, Lululemon, Anthropologie, Loft, The Limited, Nordstrom Rack, and Bath & Body Works.
And I, of course, had to visit Caribou Coffee for an afternoon treat. Caribou is based in Minnesota but the owners got their inspiration from a trip to Alaska.
For dinner one evening, Kristy and I went to Crave and enjoyed some happy hour specials.
Today we are having another baby shower with friends of mine from college, camp, and those I’ve gotten to know over the years.
I LOVE seeing Waseca. It’s always going to be home for those of us that have left it. 🙂
I’m in the Midwest now too (Michigan)! My trip had a lot of family and warm weather activities too. Enjoy the rest of your trip!
enjoy your time at home!
So fun to have you in Minnesota! Nick enjoyed meeting you too and he told me all about this blog post that he was in. We miss you!!
Haha! Too funny. I’m always leery about including new people in blog posts, but I’m happy he was okay with it.
