A Day in the Life of Sadie

Hi, my name is Sadie, and I am a 2 year old black lab/pit bull mix who was adopted by Craig and Michelle this past fall. I am an easy-going dog who loves long walks at the dog park, hiking in the mountains, cuddling, eating everything and anything, lots of petting, and chasing cats and birds. I do not like playing fetch or swimming—or looking at the camera.

Oh, and by the way, when Craig and I imitate and talk for Sadie, we always talk in the dog’s voice in this YouTube video. So you have to imagine her talking with that same voice when reading this.

7:00 a.m.

I hear mom and dad moving around upstairs, so it must be time to get up. I bound upstairs as quickly as possible. Wait patiently by the door. (Thankfully we have broken Sadie of her habit of whining at our door until we opened the door and fed her. She had been used to me getting up at 5:00/5:30 a.m., so then when I was no longer getting up at that early, she still wanted to be fed at that time. We stopped feeding her right away when we got up, and thankfully she no longer whines in the morning.)

7:30 a.m. 

Breakfast time! I love food—love, love, love it. I can’t sit still and get SO excited to eat breakfast. I scarf down my food in 0.2 seconds.

7:31 a.m.

Outside for a potty break.

7:35 a.m.

Dad starts making his smoothie and shares some fruit and vegetables with me. I love food! I especially like kale, green apples, and bananas. I do not like spinach.

7:40 a.m.

I intently watch Dad as he eats his breakfast hoping he will share more with me.

7:55 a.m.

Dad leaves for work, which makes me very sad. I go to the couch and mope.

11:00 a.m.

I hear Mom get a grocery sack. Does that mean we get to go for a walk? Yipee!! I love walks.

11:25 a.m.

We are finishing up our walk and turn the corner so I can see our home. NO!! I don’t want to go back home, Mom. I am going to walk really slowly so I can avoid going home.

11:30 a.m.

Return home. Sometimes Mom gives me a treat if I was good and didn’t eat any garbage off the ground. I LOVE treats!

11:35 a.m.

I am hot and exhausted. Time to lay in the cool office and sleep some more.

4:45 p.m.

Is that Dad?!? Yes, yes, yes, I love when Dad comes home because he pets me, sings songs to me, and feeds me!

I promise I do love my dad. It is my crazy picture-taking Mom who I get annoyed with.

Waiting every so patiently for dad to get food for me.

7:00 p.m.

After dinner, Dad and I cuddle on the couch. I love cuddling.

9:00 p.m.

Mom and Dad go up to bed. Sometimes I hang out with them for a bit, but then I have to go sleep on the couch because Mom does not like dog hair in or on her bed.
