I was too busy having fun to check back in with another update while we were in Minnesota last week. I had a blast spending time with family and friends. Here’s an overview of some things I did.
One night my mom, dad, brother, sister, Craig, and I went to the Chanhassen Dinner Theater to watch Fiddler on the Roof. After we were seated in the theater, we first had a very nice dinner and then watched the musical.
It was a very good show and fun to attend a fine arts show, which I only do a handful of times each year. Craig and I at the show. (Ha! It looks like I am missing teeth from the shadows that were cast on my face.)
My sister, Kristy, and I made sure to go on a lot of runs together. We ran in the country at home, around the Twin Cities, and I even went to my sister’s running group at the gym she belongs to. That was a ton of fun but boy was it difficult. I am still sore four days later.
I also met up with a fellow blogger and friend, Nate, who blogs at Twin Cities Runner. He recently ran 31K in honor of his 31st birthday. Running kilometers sounds a lot more doable than one mile for each year.
It was fun to run and chat with Nate and reminisce about our days at Camp Omega where we both were counselors.
It was a gorgeous fall day to run on paved trails along the river. I was so happy to be running with others for once since I do way too many runs by myself.
I spent a couple of days with Kristy in the Cities shopping at all of my favorite stores that we don’t have in Alaska: H&M, The Loft, The Limited, Lululemon, Bath and Body Works, Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, and the Nike Outlet. I would have loved to go to other places like: IKEA, Crate and Barrel, West Elm, The Container Store, and Ulta if we had had more time.
One afternoon we did take a walk around one of the lakes in Minneapolis on a picture-perfect fall day.
It was so gorgeous and did not feel like November. I’ll take it!
Our walked included part of the Twin Cities Marathon course I ran last fall.
I had two blogger meet-ups while in Minnesota. I finally got to meet Nichole, who blogs at Nichole’s Running Journey.
Nichole and I have been following each others blog for about a year now, and it was so fun to finally meet her in person. I wish we lived closer together because we had so much in common. We weren’t able to go on a run together, but hopefully next time. I had so much fun in Minnesota, but there is just never enough time to do everything when I go home-home to Minnesota. Sadly, now it is back to reality: working, getting up early, and life in Alaska.
LOVED meeting you in person! Next time you’re in MN, I’ll be back up and running so we can log a few miles together :). Look forward to it!
