5th Wedding Anniversary

On Friday, Carig and I celebrated 5 years of marriage.

Yes, we had a John Deere “limo” tractor pulling a wagon with hay bales on. We had to honor my farming roots. It was a blast. . . . oh, the good old Midwest.

We didn’t do anything big or exciting to celebrate five years together. I tried to get Craig to fly to Seattle for the weekend, but he said something about jobs and it costing money. Instead we just hung out and enjoyed each others company.

Friday night we went out to dinner at Maxine’s Fireweed Bistro.

We didn’t know they had a solarium, so it was a pleasant surprise when we showed up and were able to eat outside on such a gorgeous evening. I wasn’t even cold, which is saying a lot! I have never been able to eat outside here without being cold—no joke!

We had good very good food. I had the Thai Tofu Lettuce Wraps. They were good but spicy!

Saturday morning I did a long run of 15 miles. It was a good run—kind of tough—but good. After that we went to a baptism at church and ate more amazing food.

Saturday afternoon we biked to the Spenard Farmer’s Market where we got a PopCycles. This is a friend of Craig’s from high school. She makes homemade popsicles and then sells them out of this bike she rides around town.  I had one of the lemon with ginger and mint popsicle, and it was amazing! If you live in the area, you must go check it out. (And I am not just saying this because she is a friend.)

We then continued on to New Sagaya City Market when I got a decaf cappachino with a bun on the side. Seems odd, but I was craving carbs like no other this weekend.

Only I enjoy hot coffee on a “hot” day. (It was in the 70s here this weekend and while everyone was saying how hot it was, I thought it was perfect!)

Oh man, am I loving this sunshine.

Craig soaking up the sun. We biked back home and probably covered about 20 miles round trip. After we got home, I was pretty beat, so I watched The Bachelorette and went to bed shortly after that. Lame, I know, but an ideal day in my book.

Recaps from past anniversaries:

The summer of our 1st anniversary, we had taken the entire summer off from our jobs and spent two weeks in Minnesota and then two weeks in Portland, OR visiting family and friends and gallivanting around. It was awesome! We were in Portland on the day of our anniversary, but I don’t remember exactly what we did—all I know is that we were having fun.

On our 2nd wedding anniversary we stayed overnight in Girdwood and then went sea kayaking out of Whittier, AK.

Three year anniversary.

4th Wedding anniversary. –> I guess we get more lame each year because all we did was go out for dinner.
