I am a planner. I love making lists, planning out every little detail, and then “simply” following through. This is a strengthen of mine, and it is “easy” to do. (Once I make up my indecisive mind.)
But over the years I have learned that things don’t always go as planned. (Surprise, surprise!) I used to try and plan out the next few years of my life, but something always caused my plans to change. So as much as I want to plan everything out for the next 1-2 years, I know my plans won’t go as planned.
The one thing I do know is that things will be changing quite a bit over the next year or so for us. Craig and I are getting to that point where are careers are changing, we want to settle down and start and family, and buying a house is on the brink of our minds. I don’t know what those careers will be, I don’t know where we will settle down, and I don’t know what our house will look like, but I’m excited (and nervous and scared) as to what will happen.

My morning started out with a run. Another pain-free run! This is the 4th run with no pain, so I’m hoping this is a good sign.
I knew it was going to be cold again (8*F), but I always remind myself that I will feel so much better if I go out for my run rather than skip it.
Distance: 5 miles
Time: 45 minutes
Pace: 9 minutes/miile
I made sure to leave early enough before work, so I could cash in my free coffee coupon. It’s the little things.
It was a long day at work. I had work to do, but I was still bored out of my mind. I was constantly checking the clock and counting down the hours. I hate that.
I did have another physical therapy appoint, and I’m happy to report that I don’t have to go back—that is if I don’t have any more pain. The physical therapist set me up with a running plan for Boston, and we were able to squeeze in one 20-miler three weeks out. I sure hope that actually happens because it would really boost my confidence!
After work I hit up the gym for some weight lifting. I pretty much have to workout twice a day with all the sitting at work I do otherwise I have a hard time maintaining my weight.

Question
Do you like to plan things out or fly by the seat of your pants?
Do you get bored at work or do you stay pretty occupied?
That is good news, about PT. I am a planner, definitely. A list maker. I stay pretty occupied at work but it is still boring.

First, I really enjoy your blog – I came across it while searching for winter running tips, and i really enjoy reading your posts, so thank you!
I am a planner, to a fault! I “need” to know how everything will play out. After the birth of our daughter i am learning that it is sometime easier to just let things happen…Sounds like your next phase is an exciting one, congratulations!
Thanks! I’ve heard other new moms say the same thing.
i’m totally a planner too! i hate not having things planned. but such is my life right now. i literally JUST emailed out a draft of my thesis & hope to have all revisions done to graduate in may but we will see. i’d love to have a job by then too but again, we will see.ahhh the suspense is killing me. if it was a tv show or movie, i’d look up the ending, but it’s life so i can’t. 🙂
Since I teach I find that I am not really bored at work (though sometimes I get bored hearing excuses ~ I teach at a college).
I’m a planner, too!! 🙂 Makes me feel like there’s something to count on even though I know I can also count on things changing!
When I was a teacher, the days definitely went by a lot faster.
I’m a planner, but I love a surprise every now and then (we aren’t finding out the sex of our baby). I have to be up and moving for work. I can’t sit long…I teach preschool, so this is not a problem!
My body was not designed to sit all day either!
I am totally a planner- but I think that all of my years of teaching forced me to be that way- to an excessive amount. The best thing about quitting is that it has made me more flexible, less rigid, and just learn to let things happen (to a degree). My schedule is different every day- every week! And that can be a pain at times, but it’s also great.
I am so curious to see where you move to! Do you think you’ll be in the lower 48?
Chances are it will still be in Alaska for a few years. :/ But I’m hoping one day we can move to the “South” haha . . .(a.k.a. the Lower 48).
