Random thoughts:
- This is literally how my day goes: wake up, run, go to work, run, sleep. Repeat. Oh, and lots of eating in between. I have seriously been a bottomless pit all week. It is as if last week’s 95 miles are finally catching up with me.
- The best part of my new job: the office is legitimately warm! I don’t have to wear 2+ layers in order to stay warm. Of course everyone else complains how hot it is, but I love it!
- I had a nightmare the other night. . . about teaching! Not good.
- It is turning to fall already. People are starting to wear their UGGs, the mornings are crisp, and the leaves are starting to fall.
- I swear the feather pillow I stole from my husband is giving me the best sleep of my life. Although my internal alarm clock still went off at 4:52 a.m. this morning.

I ended up choosing not to 100 miles this last week. Instead I used it to recover before hitting it hard for the last two weeks of training for the marathon (Twin Cities) before I start to taper. How did this happen?!
I ended up running 70 miles, which felt like a walk in the park to me. I realize this is still a lot of miles for most people (and even I still think this is a fairly hefty undertaking), but it is relative—always relative.
Here is a recap on my training for the week:
Monday
45 minutes of weight lifting
8 miles/1:02 (fartlek workout)
Tuesday
9 miles/1:12
5 miles/39:00
Wednesday
10 miles/1:22
45 minutes of weight lifting
Thursday
8 miles/1:04 –> track workout: 12 x 400 meters (my times were between 1:36 – 1:39 for each 400)
5 miles/39:00
Friday
9 miles/1:15
30 minutes of weight lifting (just my upper body)
Saturday
16 miles/2:11
Sunday
OFF
Total: 70 miles
Overall, the week went well. My times were fast, but I felt good and it was a good to cut-back a bit before I go at it again next week.

I know I’ve been running a lot more this year than I have in the past, but I took a look at my running log from last year just to compare.
In 2011, I ran a total of 1790 miles.
As of today, I have ran 1793 miles so far this year.
I’ve been wanting to hit 2000 miles in one year, and it looks like I shouldn’t have any problem doing that.
I’m taking tomorrow (Sunday) off from running in order to feel extra rested before I start hitting it hard for the next two weeks.
100 miles here I come!!! Eek! I’m excited!
