Happy Saturday!
I hope everyone’s weekend is going well and you are soaking up every minute of it! π
I need to do some catching up, so let’s back up to Thursday (Craig’s birthday).
For Craig’s birthday, we went to the Glacier Brewhouse in downtown Anchorage for dinner.
I completely forgot to bring my camera, so I didn’t get a single picture. π
We had very delicious food at The Brewhouse (as usual), and enjoyed the time together just to sit and talk.

As I mentioned in a previous post, I gave Craig a present each night of his birthday-week.
Monday night I gave him a pair of black dress pants. (He isn’t very good about buying new clothes for himself, so I always like to help him out. π )
I also gave him a bar of soap from Denali Dreams Soap Company—a local company.
The soap has coffee grounds in it!
Tuesday he received Aveda’s Dry Remedy shampoo and conditioner for his very dry hair. (He loves the smell of it!)
I was really excited for Wednesday night’s gift: an NPR t-shirt that says “Get Smarter.” Craig loves listening to NPR, so I could resist buying this when I saw it at the Gap the other day.
And Thursday was the big finale with a iPod docking unit that he has been wanting for a very long time. Now we just need to find our iPod. (sigh)

Friday morning I slept in until 6 a.m. (I have not been sleeping well this week and have not been going to bed early enough.)
I still had time to squeeze in 5 miles before work.

Usually I vary my breakfasts every morning based on what I’m craving, but I had the same breakfast every single day this week.
Vanilla Protein Smoothie + English muffins with peanut butter
In my protein smoothie I mixed: Almond Breeze Almond Milk + one frozen banana + 3 scoops of vanilla-flavored protein powder + 3 ice cubes
It was so good!

This morning (Saturday), I did a long run and ran 17 miles.
Why? I don’t know. (Since I’m not training for anything.)
How? I don’t know.
It was 23* outside and the streets and sidewalks were definitely covered in snow. π
My goal was to run 17 miles, but I didn’t think it would actually happen, so I figured I’d just run 13 miles.
I did an out-and-back route, but when I got to my turn-around, I had already done 7 miles, so I figured I’d tack on another mile and run a total of 15 miles. Then I thought, “what’s 2 more miles,” which is how I ended up at 17 miles.
And that, my friends, is a sign I’ve gone crazy.
awesome job on your 17 miles! thats great that you convinced yourself to do it! I hope you start sleeping better and have a great weekend
17 miles ‘just because’? U wild woman! That is very impressive, I like it.
I also love that npr shirt & coffee ground soap! Great gifts!
Sometimes you just wanna keep running. I wish I had an area to do something like that. 17 miles would put me way into the city, hah!
Freaking. Awesome. Run.
Love it! Aren’t those the best…when you know you can just keep going?!
17 miles just to do it? nice! but crazy. π in the best way possible of course!
Congrats on the 17 miles! I’d be dead after mile 10…
Ha! I was dead after 10!
