World’s Smallest Race Expo

I don’t often go back and reread posts I’ve written, but I just got done reading the post I wrote after my first marathon, and I definitely got a little misty-eyed.

It is one thing to relive the experience through the mental thoughts and images my brain remembers a year later, but wow, rereading that post had me reliving the experience in a much more authentic way and definitely brought back thoughts and emotions I had forgotten about.

It reminds me why I do keep this online journal!

After my first marathon “explaining” how the race went.

Translation: “what did I just put myself through?”

This is the week of lasts:

Last long run

Last track workout

And today: Last run!

Eek!! I can’t believe the marathon is in less than 2 days away!!

It is scary to think that the next time I go running, I will be running the Mayor’s Marathon!!

Today I did an easy 4 miles–definitely nothing strenuous!

Afterwards I spent a lot of time foam rolling and stretching.

And then it was time for one last ice bath! (I honestly think they become less painful each time. Seriously—try it! ;) )

This evening I went to pick up my bib for the race.

Welcome to the world’s smallest race expo. . .

There were only a handful of booths on each side of the room.

We did get some questions answered by a very helpful gentleman about the course though. That’s probably something that would be hard to come-by at a bigger race.

And it is mandatory that all hotels have obnoxious, hideous carpet?!?!

I’m laying low for the evening and hanging out with Craig. :)
