Today is the first weekday of summer vacation and not having to wake up to an alarm was glorious!
Of course I slept in until a whopping 6:30 a.m., but hey, that’s a whole hour later than when I got up for school!
I got my Monday morning started with a run! My marathon is quickly approaching, so no time for slacking!
I prefer running on an empty (or nearly empty) stomach, so I just had 3 Clif Shot Bloks before leaving. (There are 6 bloks in the package.)
I decided to do a tempo run today. I chose an “out and back” route and ran out “easy” (at my normal pace) and then came back “hard.”
Distance: 9 miles
4.5 miles – 38 minutes (8:30 minutes/mile)
4.5 miles – 35 minutes (7:30 minutes/ mile)
Time: 1:13

Breakfast was a delicious bowl of oatmeal and iced coffee.
My standard bowl of oatmeal with banana, peanut butter, and granola on top.
If I have hot oatmeal, I want iced coffee! (And if I am having overnight (cold) oatmeal, I want hot coffee.)
A recap of my runs for May 16 – 22
Monday: 6 miles
Tuesday: 5 miles
Wednesday: 5 miles
Thursday: 7 miles
Friday: 4 miles + 30 minutes of weight lifting
Saturday: 12 miles + 90 minutes of yoga
Sunday: rest
Total: 39 miles

Time for a shower and some normal clothes. Yeah! No more athletic clothes.
I love that idea of doing your tempo run with an out and back course.
I would live in athletic clothes if I had some time off
Awesome job. I actually really like doing my tempo runs on an out and back course too. That is great-a whole minute difference!
I always wear athletic clothes. All day everyday.
I think I’m in the minority when I don’t like wearing athletic clothing all day, every day.
hope I can run that much one of these days, haha! sounds like you had a good week, and looks like you had a delicious breakfast!
take me with you one your summer vacation.
Hhaha. Loving those outtakes. (:
that’s funny…when i’m on break i live in athletic clothes. but i guess a p.e. teacher would do the opposite 🙂 happy summer!
Hooray for summer vacation!!!! We still have 3 weeks =(
