Summer Break Begins

I’m freeeee!!!!

Summer break if finally here, and I am so happy!!

I was so excited, I couldn’t even sleep in this morning; how pathetic is that! I rolled out of bed at my usual time of 5:30 a.m. and got “busy” reading blogs, checking my e-mail, and reading updates on Facebook. 😉

After eating 3 Clif Shot Bloks from this package, I was out the door for my run.

I ran 2 miles to the gym, spent 30 minutes lifting weights, then ran two miles back home for a total of 4 miles today.

It was a wonderful run, and I came home refreshed and ready to start my day. 🙂

Now with summer break here, I finally have the time to do things that get pushed to the back burner during the school year.

Some of these things include:

Personal things:

– shopping (I love shopping but have done very little because other things always seemed to take a higher priority.)

– manicure and pedicure (can’t wait!)

– haircut

– eye brow wax

Baking/cooking:

These are the things that are first on my list to make:

Lemon Chia Seed Muffins

Fresh Thai Summer Rolls

Asian Noodle Salad

And definitely some of these!

Wheat Germ Streusel Banana Muffins

Cleaning:

– shower

– scrubbing the floors

– dusting

– lots of laundry

Other odds and ends:

– make an eye doctor appointment

– wash and vacuum car

– go to the library and check out books since I will have more time to read!

~~~~~~~
A shopping trip was definitely in store for today. I have been very bad about cooking and keeping our cupboards and fridge stocked with food these past couple weeks!
Craig wasn’t too happy about his peanut butter and jelly sandwich the 3rd day in a row.
Can you believe we survived on $7.00 worth of groceries for the week!
Okay, so that’s a little bit of a stretch. I actually purchased about $25 worth of groceries but had a dividend/rewards gift card of $18.
The majority of my purchases today.
(There was still quite a bit of produce that didn’t make the picture!)
I’m off to bed now to get rejuvenated for my long (but a “short” long) run tomorrow. My goal is to hit 13 miles, which will seem like a walk in the park after my 20 miler last Saturday.
Question
What is something you wish you had more time to do?
Hi, I'm Michelle
I love running around the lakes of Minnesota, running after my two boys, and racing anything from the 5K to the marathon. I have been blogging here since 2010 when I ran my first marathon. I finally secured my sub-3 hour marathon after trying for 8 years.
    I like shot blocks a lot. It already looks like your summer is starting to shape up! I wish I had more time to paint my nails…seriously dosn’t every girl? I hate chipped nails (UGH right now)!
    Happy Summer Breakin’!! I can imagine how good it feels!!
    Something I wish I had more time to do is bake a cook. I’m trying to make more time for it, but I find myself defaulting and going with the easy-to-make instant oatmeal, bowl of cottage cheese etc. Your recipes look great though. I’m inspired to dive into my clean eating magazine and make one of the recipes!
    My mom (a retired teacher) has a giant fridge magnet that reads:
    The three best things about teaching are June, July, and August.
    I wish I would have had more time to spend with Kristy while she was home this past week. My time was spent working in the field and the pig barn. Thanks to Kristy for making some meals and doing dishes.
    Congrats on being done with school! I would definitely spend more time taking care of myself with manis/pedis and keeping up my eyebrows if I had more time. Those always get put on the back burner.
