Greek Festival 2010
I spent Saturday and Sunday afternoon helping out at the Greek Festival, sponsored by Holy Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church.
This popular community event featured Greek cuisine, music, dancing, and a lot of “opas!!” The event is held to raise money in order to help build a new church.
Greece. America. Alaska.
Delicious, authentic Greek food!

A few samples for myself: dolmathes (grape leaves stuffed with rice, herbs, and spices), youvetsi (orzo pasta with pieces of lamb), and spanakopita (spinach pastry).
Spanakopita – filo layered with spinach, onions, and feta cheese
Souvlaki (a.k.a. “meat on a stick”)
Gyros (pronounced- “year-ros” not “ji-ros”)

Roasting the lamb.
Loukoumathes (aka “honey puffs) – Craig’s favorite!
but you could win a Mercedes!!
Me hard at work in the dinner booth.
